Large, old, family run pub, formerly called the Rifle Butt. There is a spacious bar/lounge with soft furnishings with the TV and pool table on a split level. Basic bar food is available, and includes jacket potatoes, chilli, baguettes etc.

I would like to thank the staff for their efforts in delivering 21 meals on Sunday afternoon. All the food that was served up was enjoyed by everyone unfortunately not at the same time as some of the party had finished before some had started . Like I say it must be very difficult to serve up 21 people at the same time . Anyway everyone enjoyed their meals and get together. Special thanks to the wonderful Amy who was so polite and helpful in organising everything Cheers
Popped in for a very quick bite before a funeral. Hadn't booked a table, but thankfully the front of house team found us a spot (during the busy festive period). Ordered two sandwiches amd two pints of ale. Both incredibly tasty, promptly served (within 15 mins of ordering) and very fresh. Great service!
Poor effort. So many staff on but no tables cleared, especially outside food and rubbish all over the floor. All the tables were sticky also. Ordered food, waited a long time for it to arrive. No turkey on one roast, No roast potatoes on roast dinners 'we've sold out you should have been told' veg non existent and what was there was hard.. mash like thick glue. Overcooked steak, cold chips and no peas- we werent told this either.. Onion rings missing. Gravy so thick and lumpy you could have built a house with it. The manager gave us a refund, but we won't be eating there again. and whilst we were stood at the bar all of the waitresses and the kitchen staff were quite clearly talking about us and gawping out of the kitchen window..... rude.
Had a few drinks and some food, very friendly staff and a nice feel to the place overall. The beer garden is nice and the toilets were very clean which is a great sign for a pub! Ale selection was small, but what they had was great and the general drinks selection was decent otherwise. Food was very nice overall - pricier than many other Midlands pubs, but I come from London so felt very cheap to me!
Ate here on 23rd Sept. Nice atmosphere and the place is welcoming. The two waitresses on provided good service. Lots of option on the menu, but unfortunately the hot honey burger was missing honey, as well as other things it should have come with, making it quite dry and basic. I ordered a medium rare sirloin, but it was neither a sirloin or medium rare, was more well done. The beef dripping was really nice though. The gammon dish was missing peas, but that’s not the end of the world and we could’ve let that slide. Dessert was nice but the plate was piping hot to the point one of us burnt ourselves. I didn’t know at the time as I was up at the bar paying but I’m told by a family member that the assistant manager was rude and obnoxious when asking what the problem with the food was. All in all, not a great experience - mistakes do happen but the place wasn’t busy at all so less excuses. Granted, they did give us a small bit of discount but if there’s no improvement then I’m not interested in returning. Shame as all reviews were good.
