This is a lovely pub to visit. My husband and I went for lunch and we were impressed with all aspects. We were made to feel very welcome immediately. The staff were friendly and helpful, the menu and special had a great variety of snacks, small and larger meals, and deserts. Prices are compatible with most places and are value for money. We had good food, good service and enjoyed the atmosphere. We will definitely visit again.
First time here for food on Sunday. Wow, the prawn and crayfish cocktail was amazing. They do not skimp on the shrimp 😊 Myself and family had a roast. It was absolutely lovely, again, generous portions and lovely and fresh. Super friendly and helpful staff too. We will be back
We walked here from Whitstable along the beach and had a delicious Sunday roast. We booked over email for a 12:00 table, and there was a queue outside for 10mins before they opened, which felt like a good sign. The place was super busy as soon as they opened so definitely worth booking. Between us we had the chicken wings and brie for starter. Both came with a lovely fresh salad and were very tasty. We then had the turkey and pork roast, which came with some of the best roast potatoes I've eaten and a wide range of veg, including cheesy leeks. I went for the Moroccan Nut roast, over the beetroot and butternut squash Wellington, but both sounded lovely. At first sight, I thought I'd made a mistake! But the nut roast was lovely; really unusual. None of us could fit a pudding in, but they looked good too! All of the waiting staff were really friendly, despite being super busy, so all round a very good lunch. Glad we made that choice!
Drive along the front away from Herne Bay, up the hill - and there's The Hampton Inn below, with the sea behind. It sits on a traffic island, with plenty of free on-road parking about. Coming into the pub, I was struck by how busy it was. It is clearly very popular with OAPs but also families with small children and people with dogs. Judging by the events listed on the board, it seems to be a thriving community hub. The windows ensure that the place is very airy with plenty of sunlight and a sea view. The location is much quieter and more relaxed than Herne Bay proper. Just a few wind surfers out on the water outside. The decor feels perhaps more like a coffee shop than a traditional pub, but I suppose this chimes in with the setting. The food was very reasonably priced and quite decent (standard British pub grub). The prawn and crayfish sandwich was really good as was the vegetarian lasagna.
Loved our first visit to The Hampton Inn and will definitely be returning! The Hampton is a good 25 min walk from the centre of Herne Bay but it's well worth the effort. The aspect of the pub is stunning looking out over the bay towards Tankerton and Whitstable. Great selection of well cooked local foods complemented by good local ales. My wife and I had the Fish and Chips and our daughter the Veg Lasagne. There was certainly no room for dessert but we just had to try one, and the cheesecake didn't disappoint. Overall, great food, lovely serving staff and dog friendly too...what's not to like!
