Oh dear, what has happened sat the Rockingham Arms. I booked on-line a couple of weeks ago hoping to enjoy our 51st wedding anniversary lunch. I subsequently received 3 messages: a booking confirmation and 2 reminders. On arrival yesterday there was no record of my booking. Having been shown to a table we then made do with a barman with very limited understanding of the menu and a rather brusque waitress. Our 3 course choices subsequently appeared and, whilst flavoursome, all gave us the impression of lots of last-minute ‘newking’. The nail in the coffin arrived with dessert. Despite a clear sign at the door barring damp dogs, a large group arrived with wet dogs - and the smell was so overpowering we paid up and left. Such a shame. The impression of good management and quality seems to be much reduced since our previous visits. Act quickly RA - once your reputation goes, so will your loyal regulars!

Possibly the most lovely little pub I have am ever been to. Staff are second to none. So kind and welcoming of both children and doggies. Food is phenomenal, have eaten here twice and been blown away both times. Food is priced so well so excellent value for money. Served by both Miami and Lewis on both visits who went above and beyond! Thank you and can’t wait to come back more next year!

A well laid out pub with thoughtful and quirky touches wherever you look. The staff were attentive and did all they could to accommodate our requests. The food came quickly, was well presented and tasted just as good. Highly recommended.

Came here for a Sunday roast. We didn’t book in advance but managed to get a seat in the bar area. Staff all very friendly and a lovely pub. Food really tasty but after finishing realised we didn’t have any Yorkshire puddings (and lots of plates came out after with them). Cauliflower cheese didn’t have any cauliflower in, just creamy cheese- not necessarily a bad thing! I paid the bill at the bar and after leaving realised we’d been overcharged for the beef roast. The Menu price was lower. So overall we feel we paid more for less food.

We stopped here for lunch on a New Forest bike ride and had a lovely sunny lunch in the garden. Pint of Flack's Sunshine Session IPA (local Romsey brewery), vegan ciabatta, halloumi fries with spicy mayo and pomegranate salad, kid's chicken goujons with fries, and a club sandwich with triple fried chunky chips. All absolutely delicious and service was friendly and prompt. A wonderful place to visit during a trip to the New Forest, with bags of local character. We even saw wild donkeys and Shetland ponies roaming on the road outside! Magical.
