About us

Welcome to the Mortimer Arms, a family run Country Inn ideally located on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire. Formally the Victorian home of a Dowager, it has been sympathetically extended and recently refurbished.

We offer you the perfect venue, albeit for a drink, lunchtime snack, dinner, party, conference or a short break.

Its central location is ideal for exploring the New Forest with its spectacular scenery and abundance of wild life where ponies, cattle, pigs and deer are free to roam. Nearby are the Cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester and the quaint market town of Romsey. The nearby shopping centre of Southampton, the market town of Lymington and the blue flag beaches of Bournemouth offer access to the world famous sailing waters of the Solent.

Our fully trained attentive staff are here to ensure that your visit is relaxing, fun and enjoyable and that you will return time and time again.

We all look forward to welcoming you to The Mortimer Arms.

Unhappy staff, unapproachable, no one at the bar when we entered, expensive, young lady that works here has attitude, not appreciated, and the way she spoke to a group of people was disgusting. Not very clean, and they ignored me when i said i would like to look through the menu so i had to get one myself. Won't be coming back.

Would not visit for food again. Roast was ok but dessert (apple and pineapple crumble) was an hour late and just seemed to have no effort put in, taste like sawdust. For £8.50 I expected to at least be respected, it’s a bit of an insult particularly after being so late. Also roasts are small portions, 3 small potatoes…

Food was OK, but the desert was terrible. I ordered baklava , it certainly wasn't what came, and it was uncooked and violently hot from being in the microwave too long. The service started OK, but then it went down hill quickly. No one asked if we'd like more drinks, left dirty cutlery and napkins on the table but then asked if we wanted to se ethe deserts and then took our order and then brought out deseret in stages and still the dirty glasses, cutlery and napkins were never cleared. It took 20 mins for someone to finally ask if there was a problem with my desert, which in fairness was take off the bill. Stick to English dishes and train the staff on etiquette is my advice. 3 stars is a fair account.

Venue perfect for peppa pig world. The food was traditional and suitable, not amazing but ok. However we think the staff make the experience as well as good food and we did not find the staff sociable or friendly in their attitude to us as customers. A pleasant and friendly approach goes a long way to people deciding to revisit, it’s not a pub that we would actively recommend as being a lovely experience
