About us

Our opening hours are as follows; lunchtimes (Monday-Friday 12-2.30pm and Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holidays 12-3pm) and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings (from 6-10pm).

We can accommodate a limited number of people inside the bars, but given the ongoing Covid situation, you may wish to sit outside where most tables are covered and where there are cushions, blankets and a couple of stoves for chilly days.

We also offer a takeaway service, but please call in advance to order.

Food orders are taken between 12 and 2pm (lunchtimes) and between 7pm and 8.30pm (evenings) and are limited to our usual sandwich menu (ham, beef, cheese etc.) plus our ploughmans (stilton/cheddar/brie/ham/rare beef) and our ever popular soup. There may also be quiche/flan available at times as well as a choice of desserts. Our cask beer range is limited to Flack Manor Douple Drop and Bowman Swift One.

Please note that we only take cash (or cheques).

We have now reverted to ordering food and drinks at the bar but do ask a member of staff if you would prefer table service. On arrival please find a table (all are numbered or named) and either wait for one of our staff to come to you, or come into one of the bars. Note that a couple of tables per session can be reserved by calling us in advance.

Car parking is very limited. Some parking is available up Harrow Lane but we are now unable to use the top field for overflow parking. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

An absolutely charming, unpretentious, old english pub that has barely changed in years. The staff are so welcoming, and this just adds to the friendly atmosphere that greets you as you take a step inside. The food is non fussy but superb none the least, as is the beer. I highly recommend the oyster stout on keg, my "go to" whenever I am visiting👌. All this and a super cosy fireplace that warms your cold limbs in no time and just adds to the charm of this excellently run village pub. I love this place!

Ridiculously quaint country pub the like of which is very rare these days. Double check the opening hours. Cash only. Restroom across the road. No children in bar.

Village pub with good beer from the barrel and tasty, satisfying food. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly locals (and their dogs), in a quiet and secluded country setting.

Quirky authentic English pub. Two entrances, one to the bar and one to the other bar! 🤣, Open between 12 and 3pm. Real fire makes it welcoming on a cold day, squish together on the benches and get to know the locals. Owners very welcoming, we sat next to their family members and had a lovely chat, been in the same family for 90 years or so. It was the chaps 80th birthday. Dogs welcome. Homemade meals on the menu, we had rare beef sandwiches that were very plentiful, along with locally made wine (surprisingly good) and beer from kegs (again, very good). CAMRA. The pub is filled with memorabilia, outside you could purchase plants for charity, you could even purchase old pennies! There are lots of nooks and crannies outside where you can huddle in your groups and enjoy the gardens. Need to take cash as no cards taken, plus the toilets are in the building over the lane from the pub! Thankfully, the toilets have loo roll rather than authentic cut up newspaper! Highly recommended, a very hidden gem that takes you back in time.
