I went to The George for lunch with my daughter & grandson today but was disgusted with the treatment my daughter received when she tried to order our food.She was told she had been rude because she questioned something on the menu.The waitress in question, Lydia continued to argue and said she was going to speak to her manager to help decide whether she would take our order or not.At this point we’d had enough and walked out to find a lovely pub The Brewery on the Square which had a lovely atmosphere ,delicious food and was welcoming.
Had a banging festive burger from here the other day. One of the nicest burgers I've ever tasted. The crumble was amazing too. Only drawback is that I'm married to a vege and she didn't have much choice on the menu but she enjoyed her butternut squash and beetroot tortellini. Overall fantastic. Good value. Nice tidy pub. Bar staff lovely. Will definitely return and a big thank you to the chef.
We had an excellent Christmas Dinner. The table looked lovely and we really appreciated the santa hats! The team, Andy, Alex, Chef Rob and Frankie made sure everything ran smoothly. The turkey was very tender, delicious.
Group lunch with the family today. Accepted that only the roast was available on a Sunday. Feedback on each meal served. Meals delivered based on what had been ordered were plated incorrectly. Food partially warm/cold and served with frozen Yorkshire puddings and what appeared to be ready made gravy, exceptionally salty. Based on this would regrettably be unlikely to return or recommend.
Popped in here this morning for a breakfast. We saw the blackboard outside saying the place was dog friendly so that worked well seeing as we had 3 dogs with us. We ordered our food and the lady came over with some water for the dogs and some dog biscuits. She was very friendly and clearly genuinely welcomed both people and their canine companions. I had a vegetarian breakfast and pot of tea. We also ordered traditional breakfasts and smashed avocado. I am extremely fussy with my food but I ate everything on my plate. It left me nice and full and was a very large portion size. I noticed there was a shelf of colouring and games for people to use and children had taken some of the games to play as they entered the venue. It was more like a cosy restaurant to me, rather than a pub. It had a bar but the seating was plush and comfy and there were scatter cushions around. I would definitely return to this venue.
