About us

The Old House at Home, once known as the 'sausage pub' by many, is situated in the charming village of Newnham, Hampshire, near Hook. Inside you'll find our cosy bar area with our relaxed dining room toward the back of the building.

Outside, a front terrace with a beautiful view of the green and a further dining area behind the pub with the recent addition of semi-open huts, perfect for drinks in Summer.

We pride ourselves on using fresh, seasonal, and where possible, local produce. Along with our cask ales, gins & vodkas that are produced in Hampshire, we also have an excellent selection of wines from around the world.

Outstanding! Old House has become our home away from home - dining there once a week! Every item on the menu is superb and every meal we’ve had to date has truely been exceptional. Love how they also recommend local favourites and develop their menus around this and their bar has a wide range of local beer and gin selections. Donna and her family ensure that each visit is memorable, personalised and you’re made to feel welcomed! Can’t recommend this best kept secret in Hampshire enough!!

Wonderful independent pub, lovely old school atmosphere with modern, creative cooking full of flavour and served in generous portions. Upper end of the gastropub milieu, brilliant gin selection, wonderful they offer two sizes of pudding. I had a brilliant burger - well balanced, with crisp pancetta, smokey cheese, juice meat and complimented with fresh sweet lettuce and tomato. Pudding was sticky toffee and a paragon of its kind - soft, sweet, chewy and and enhanced with a creamy vanilla ice cream. My wife had a fishcake which looked amazing, served on a bed of green beans with hollandaise sauce, though she opted out of the poached egg, as well as a yummy looking apple and rhubarb crumble with ice cream for pud. Recommended!
