About us

We saved our pub! Longparish is proud to have rescued our historic pub from the hands of a property developer. Since 1721 villagers have been welcomed to The Plough, but without immense community support it would recently have become a building site and forever lost as a local village pub and hub.

Luckily, Longparish is full of wonderful people willing to give up their time and energy to buying, renovating and re-opening The Plough. Hundreds of supporters both in the village and further afield bought shares, and Longparish Parish Council took out a government loan to support the project.

By February 2021 the pub belonged to the village. After months of hard work, and three hundred years after it first began trading, The Plough Inn is once again at the heart of the Longparish community.

We hope you will come and visit us whenever you are near Longparish!.

We came here on a Sunday, and it was a last minute decision, as it was the only place nearby that had a kids menu and had space available. The food sounded great and we were all pretty excited. Food: We got there and found out that it was a Sunday Menu only, which meant roasts only, which we weren't prepared for! Luckily, the staff were amazing, and while the adults were fine having a roast, they did a normal menu item for my 4 year old, and they did amazingly. The roasts themselves were incredible. I have never enjoyed roasts at pubs before, but this was delicious. The roast potatoes were tasty and crispy as they should be. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. They gave an extra gravy boat to the table as standard, which NEVER happens, so wow, and it was a very good gravy on top. It's locally sourced produce and it tasted like it. I was disappointed at first that it was roasts only, due to prior experiences, but they blew me away with the quality and taste. Service: As mentioned before, they went above and beyond to help us out and couldn't have asked for better. Atmosphere: We sat next to the log burner fire as it was quite cold, and it definitely helped. The window seats, no matter how many logs were on it though, never seemed to get warm, I guess as they are old windows. The place is stunning and it was a great place to spend 2 hours, with lovely food and great company.

We visited the Plough with friends who use the place quite frequently. We were disappointed with how quiet the pub was on a weekday evening. After hearing how good the food was, I have to say it was very disappointing and quite expensive. The service was OK, but the place lacks atmosphere and warmth. Have to say the George in St Mary Bourne where we live is more welcoming, much better value and feels like a true pub. There are dozens of other pubs in tbe area that we regularly visit that we'd rather return to.

We went for a large family gathering and were in the function room upstairs which was a bit cold and formal. The food was good but I wish it told you that the halloumi burgers were deep fried on the menu. Would eat there again if in the area

Lovely pub in a quiet village location. Warm welcome, with happy smiling faces from all the staff. I must say, they were all attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We each had a two course meal with drinks. The three of us had the same AMAZING main course - Gammon, Egg, Pineapple & Chips with a side of Garden peas each. Honestly, it’s the best gammon I’ve eaten, it was decent size and thickness and just melted in the mouth! Highly recommend The Plough Inn.

Last Sunday we met up with family and were lucky enough to have booked a table at this little gem of a place. The manager Ray right from the moment we arrived was friendly and accommodating, the staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble the food was absolutely delicious congratulations to the chef Billy. The pub/restaurant itself was comfortable and clean and the tables were a good distance apart from others, I don’t know anyone who likes to sit on top of strangers whilst eating. The ladies toilets were so clean and the little touches were lovely. Also it was lovely to have disabled access in the form of a ramp for wheelchair users. If there is anything I can say that I feel needed looking at would be to get some long life sugar free oat or almond milk so everyone who needs a dietary requirement can enjoy a latte at the end of their meal other than that we felt that this was one of the best pub restaurants we have ever been to and even though we live in Devon so 3 hours away we will be back, it’s the perfect meeting place to catch up with family who live the opposite end of the country. Thank you again Mike and Angie
