The Half Moon is a beautiful and historic pub located at the gateway to Dorset, on the edge of rolling Dorset and Wiltshire countryside. It is perfect for lunch, dinner and drinks.
Our meals are cooked from raw fresh ingredients; even our shortcrust pastry and triple cooked chips are produced in our kitchen by our team on a daily basis. All of our fresh ingredients are sourced within a 40 mile radius of the pub and delivered on a daily basis. We offer a varied menu including a wide range of gluten free meals. In addition we offer quality award winning Badger Ales and a great selection of wines.
Sunday lunch sees the addition of a new carvery with a choice of 3 succulent meats and a choice of 5 freshly cooked vegetables alongside homemade Yorkshire puddings and fluffy roast potatoes. Our Sunday Carvery’s are very popular so booking is advisable.
Our food service hours are 7 days a week 12pm to 9pm (Carvery finishes at 6pm Sunday’s, whilst the main menu continues).

Service was very poor, after our drinks the waitress didn’t return for our food order and once we did order our food it took a surprisingly long time to come considering it was quite empty, when our food came the chicken burger was burnt and it resembled a piece of charcoal(wish I took a picture of this). when I made the waiter aware he didn’t seem too phased at all, when the new burger arrived this time it had little to no breadcrumbs at all. At this point I’d given up. Don’t eat here unless you hate the person your going with
Food amazing ! service was really poor. We should have known to leave when it was empty on a Saturday, midday with really nice sunny weather! Left feeling a bit disappointed /regretting going there Customer tips: Don’t bother booking a table , they are all free Bring a book to read while you are waiting to get served There’s a KFC a few minutes drive away Management tips: Clean your tables, so many tables had food, drinks ect from the last visits Hire more staff so one body isn’t tending the bar, cleaning, taking table orders, receptionist greeting at the door, serving food and god knows what else! Update your menu so everytime we ask for something we don’t have to be told you don’t do that anymore or have ran out/discontinued things Use the empty black boards to actually advertise on , people do actually look at them Cut the grass, it’s overgrown and looks unkept
Booked a table for Mothering Sunday 19/03/2023. Arrived 10 minutes before reservation, friendly waitress showed us our table. Drinks arrived within a few minutes following by starters and then freshly cooked mains. Meals are very tasty, staff very attentive and helpful. Happy to return here and recommend it! Thank you 🙂
Had a lovely meal. It was clean and warm and the loos were nice. Pleasant ambiance and a good, if a little limited, menu. Service staff were nice but a little slow, even with a half full restaurant, and the kids menu meals came last, which is a bit thoughtless. Overall a very good experience and the food was really good.
