The First Community-owned pub in West Sussex
The Half Moon Inn has been at the heart of village life for more than a hundred years. In 2016, it was put up for sale and then successfully purchased by the community on 10 January, 2017,
The community owns the pub but it is run by a tenant as a profitable business, providing a service to the village, local businesses, walkers and tourists.
Balcombe Community Pub Ltd is the body that holds the ownership of the pub and it is run by a board of volunteers. It is our intention that the pub will serve its part within the heart of the community; providing good pub food, a cosy place to meet friends and have a drink, and where all will be offered a warm and friendly welcome.

Atmosphere of the pub is nice after a long walk however the food you can instantly tell how microwaved the meals are from how unevenly heated the food is, every single item had cold patches! Ordered the pork belly and bbq ribs! It's a complete hazard, avoid if you can! Stick to the pints.
Lovely pub, welcoming. Good range of beer. Gets busy though and it's not very big.
Stopped for lunch to break up a long walk from Ardingly Reservoir car park. We had a very friendly welcome, lovely refreshing drink and lunch was very good - ham, egg and chips and Camembert with toasted baguette. Would recommend.
What a cozy and quaint pub. The food was so tasty and filling. The staff are friendly and inviting and they welcome dogs, as there is a local dog walk at their doorstep. This makes it very popular, so book a table if you’re interested in visiting. If you’re around the area it’s a must visit.
Very charming little place with great staff, we actually came back twice in a row at the weekend! The food is great and they even have their own beer which is very tasty. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
