Sunday carvery as normal, group bookings welcome. Due to January and February being very quite months The Half Butt kitchen will be closed till the1st of March. New menu to follow with some old time pub classic coming back , a big thank you for all your support and we look forward to the new menu starting 1st march

Lovely relaxed carvery, with easy going, tasty food... including gluten free gravy 👌. We needed to find somewhere that could accommodate a big group of us (13) and they were easily able to do so. Would highly recommend.
we were the only ones in at around at the time (13.30) ish. they allow well behaved dog's which was great. food was good .beer good, staff very pleasant, what more could you want🤔...ah yes i think its also sports bar pub. happy days😁

Went to this pub. Excellent place and hospitality by Paula and Bekky (manager) had made our experience good. We ordered children menu and the kids loved it. With the kids play area was the icing on the cake. You have darts and billiards.. it's to go place in Colchester for family for a drink and food along with family time... True British pub with Sunday roast.. as expected was full to the brim. With a very big garden space it's and to go place.
It's open again! Lovely pub with a huge beer garden complete with climbing frame for the kids. We went once before but they were shutting down so I think they must be under new management. They didn't have any menus so the waiter had to talk us through what they did have which as it was a Sunday was roast anyway. They served it in a huge Yorkshire pudding and the portion wasn't too big or small and was quite tasty.
