Caught between the decadence of 1940’s burlesque and the comfort of your local watering hole, The Bonnington welcomes you with subtle old fashioned class and seats you on some of the comfiest & squishiest sofas in Leith. Relaxed and pleasantly scruffy with an indulgent edge.
Lovely Sunday roast and decent cocktails - a few espresso martinis. Staff were friendly and place was clean with a good atmosphere. Overall very fairly priced. I'll be back for sure.
I've not been in for a while since they changed owners. Possibly the best service I've ever experienced. Small problem and a delay with our food, which wasn't a big issue as we came in for a couple of drinks. Manager refused to let us pay for the food at all. The food was good and large portions and the cocktails nice as well.
I live super close and decided to check the pub out after walking past it many times. The atmosphere is lovely and cosy, it’s honestly such a lovely little place to sit. The food is fairly nice, have had a couple of things from the menu. Only criticism is I feel it’s slightly overpriced for the area, almost £18 for a frozen fish and chips and £3 for a pint of soda and lime for the non drinker I feel is a bit steep. If the prices were marginally lower I would be in a lot more. Great staff and weekly events are good :)
This place has been recently taken over so when I heard they do Sunday roast I was in. Very hard to come by in Edinburgh. Have to say on the whole it was very tasty however the broccoli was so hard it had almost jumped from the garden to the table and missed the steamer completely. The Yorkshire puddings were tasty enough but we're having an identity crisis as you can see from the pics look more like baby pancakes. Not a huge dessert choice but ok. The cocktails were delicious and could not fault the service. Was also finished off with live jazz in the background. Would definitely return.
Absolutely fantastic under the new management! We had a booking, but wanted to come in earlier than planned and with an extra person, which was no problem. Very attentive, skilled, and friendly staff. All food was delicious - the nachos and dips were had a fresh twist to them, the hake was cooked perfectly. Other dishes ordered were the burger with haggis, loaded fries, and the lamb mince pita, all of which were also very tasty. Will definitely be coming back!
