About us

The latest addition to the real ale scene in Preston, this micropub opened its doors to the public on 29th February 2016. The high ceilings help give this larger than usual micropub an airy feel and the light coloured woodwork and decor also help here. The main room comprises the bar itself with high and low level seating at tables and a 'drinkers' shelf' along the right hand wall. There is a small lounge tucked away to the rear of the bar with comfortable seating and a steep staircase leads to the upper floor lounge area.

There are seven handpumps dispensing changing guest ales. Initially these are likely to come from local breweries, but the intention is to stock a wide range of ales from micro breweries from far and wide. There are at least two ciders served from boxes or flagons behind the bar and a range of continental beers in keg and bottle form. Some wines are also on offer.

Whilst there is no food on offer a.t.m. you are welcome to bring your own sandwiches to accompany your lunchtime pint!

No jukebox, no music, no TV.

Recently opened is the "yard of ale" sun terrace in the back yard, including smoking zone.

Madge and Jorvic totally agree that this bar deserves to be a CAMRA Good Beer Guide entry. They even have every Guide from 1987 to 2024 for you to skim through. Great for my nostalgia. Especially the many lost breweries as well as pubs. (Real ale scene in 2020's has never been better despite those who passed.) A TV displays the choice. Seven handpumps. I had a Lune Valley Pale.Very good. Lovely interior. Two rooms on ground floor plus lovely upstair lounge opposite the toilets. Great bar.

Argyle on tour!! Searching for real ale pubs....and this was top of the list. And so it turned out to be. So many ales in a male dominated environment. I had an Obsidian ( brewed in Bingley )....ps don't tell anyone its a Yorkshire beer poured in Lancashire! Friendly northern banter with the locals and varieties of crisps I have never even heard of....a good experience

One of the best pubs in Preston near the town centre. Affordable prices and excellent range of beers and alcohol. The ambience is so well done. They have seating available upstairs which gives a typical British vibe with a lot of board games and books to read. One can spend several hours just by calmly sitting, doing some activities and having chilled beer there.

Very good pub about 10 minutes walk from Preston Station. Seven cask beers on handpump when I visited including a stout. The pub does not serve spirits. Preston's first micropub when it opened in 2016. A small lounge to the rear and another comfy lounge upstairs. Not too busy after the Spurs game at Deepdale.
