We came in on a cold day in December and we met with lovely hospitality especially from Scarlett who waited our table. Paragraph she had fabulous knowledge of both drink and food that would complement each other and was very polite and sociable which just added to the atmosphere. It was busy because it was just before Christmas but not so busy that you couldn’t sit comfortably and the restaurant and bar we kept very clean by all staff, despite this. Great pub, good manager, lovely staff and decent food and drink!
They made our special day even more special. We decided to host our wedding reception in the Guards House. All staff were incredibly supportive throughout the whole preparation process. Manager Peter made sure everything was organised exactly as we wanted. On the big day the staff went above and beyond to help us with the day and evening. Available from the first minute to the last minute. I have never experienced better service in any other venue or restaurant. The staff made sure that our vegan and vegetarian guests were fully fed through the day with suitable selection. Thank you for every member of staff !!! Martin and Alicja
The best place in the neighbourhood to get a good solid meal. Just because it is the best doesn’t mean it is very good. The English Breakfast was too salty and not all parts were good. The burger was much better, but also far from the best burger in London. Very convenient and nice online ordering system. Dog friendly.
I recently visited The Guard House in Woolwich and unfortunately, my experience was far from ideal. Right from the beginning, the service seemed off. Other guests received a warm welcome, complete with menus and guidance to their seats, but we were overlooked. Instead, we were left to fend for ourselves, ordering our meals through an app. Our desired dishes weren’t available after we had placed the order, which led us to settle for a beef meal. Unfortunately, the dish was uninspiring, lacking flavor and not well-cooked. As for the drinks, they were okay, but not anything to write home about. Plus, the pricing seemed steep, leaving us feeling like we didn’t get good value for our money. It’s a shame because I had high hopes for The Guard House. However, based on this experience, I wouldn’t be keen to return. It almost felt as if this was the intended experience, which if true, is very disappointing. Here’s to hoping they make some changes and improve the overall dining experience for future guests.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND - Exquisite food, coffee was perfect and the view/ venue has great character and bright modern windows. the food and coffee is very reasonably priced! Surprisingly it is also a pub, I will be returning regularly. We came here for breakfast, we sat out on their nice decking area in the sun, there is also an umbrella for shade. Inside is just as nice if not better. While the restaurant is close to a busy main road and outside the Elizabeth line, it's positioned perfectly, the noise is only heard outside and is quite pleasant as background sound while enjoying food and talking with company. The pedestrians walking around to and from the station, Thames cycle path and Woolwich museums provide a very nice atmosphere. The breakfast was cooked perfectly especially the eggs, poached perfectly. The sausage / bacon meat was high quality and very tasty alongside the fresh sourdough. The mushroom/ peppers were a breath of fresh air in a full English, only note was they weren't seasoned or seasoned fully, however with salt and pepper grinders on my table I seasoned them to my preference which I greatly appreciate. Both the staff rob, supervisor and the general manager ray came to check we were enjoying our food which is always nice to hear! Just moved near here so I will be a returning customer! Also the bathroom was very nice!

Our Deptford Taproom opened its doors in December 2017 with 16 craft beers on tap and a wood fire pizza oven. All the beer and sourdough you like (without falling over) served at the heart of Deptford Market Yard.
