Praised by many as the best pub in Ipswich, The Greyhound in Henley Road is famed for its well-kept Adnams beers, great food, jovial atmosphere and exceptional service. A friendly welcome awaits you.
Whether you pop in for a quick drink on the way into town or sit down for a delicious meal with friends, you’ll want to return soon.
Our kitchen is always busy and industrious. The specials board has intriguing and ever-changing choices, with seasonal dishes made where possible with local ingredients. There’s also a set menu and our famous £6 lunches, perfect as we’re less than 10 minutes’ walk from town.
The staff and many of our customers are loyal Ipswich Town fans. Apart from one regular who supports Norwich, but we try not to talk about him. The pub is just 15 minutes’ walk to Portman Road and is busy with supporters before and after home games.
We have a popular football menu for those looking for a quick pre-match bite to eat. Top of the bill is the Lambembert Burger named after the Ipswich manager and Norwood Nachos after striker James Norwood. The previous match-day specials, the Big Mick Burger, named after former boss Mick McCarthy, outstayed its welcome, as did the Paul Hurst Curry Wurst.
A lot is going on in the pub. We have a monthly Sunday quiz night, special themed food and drink events, and we’re proud to host Meet Up Mondays, offering free coffee and snacks for those who might otherwise suffer from loneliness. There’s parking at the rear and a beer garden, and we’re dog-friendly.
We stock a full range of quality Adnams beers, from Southwold to Ghost Ship and Broadside, together with lagers and a rolling guest beer, and a fine selection of wines and spirits. We’ve got alcohol-free Ghost Ship, too!
You can book a table for food by calling the pub on 01473 252862, or you can email info@thegreyhoundipswich.co.uk. We look forward to serving you.

We have visited here several times now. The menu has several pub classics as standard, supplemented with weekly specials. We have never been disappointed with our choices. The Sunday roasts are excellent too. Good selection of beer. Follow them on socials to see the menus.
Absolutely amazing meal. I get squid everywhere I go and this was bloody lush amd a huge portion....and the pan fried salmon with risotto....chefs kiss!!!! And the mulled wine, so smooth amd boozy ❤️
Had a lovely meal there, staff were friendly and attentive. Decent beer, wine over priced (£25 for a bottle of house white)
Really nice pub, the improvement made to outside is fantastic. Never had a bad meal here, great spot. Only reason a 4* not 5* is because I feel they need some better value wines. It’s about £10.00 for the cheapest dry rose and be nice to have an alternative.
This lovely pub was recommended to us for a great vegan roast. And we were not disappointed! We were craving some veg after being away for a couple of nights and having mainly junk food and this was hitting just the right spot. The vegan haggis is great with lots of said veggies, roasties and gravy. The extra red cabbage was heaven too. I can only say: yummy yummy YUMMY!!! Super friendly staff too and great garden in the sun. 10/10 all around.
