About us

Number 205 High Street is the former Greyhound public house. The building is set slightly back from the road and occupies the site of an earlier public house of the same name. A photograph of The Greyhound taken in 1873 shows a three-storey Georgian-style building with a large sign overhanging the pavement. The Greyhound was first recorded in 1797; this may well have been the year it was built.

This was my regular spoons until my visit yesterday on the 27/01/24. I ordered two meals for me and my mom. The food seemed really nice and came out fresh. However, halfway through my meal, I dipped a chip in the mayonnaise.. And what appeared to come of the chip was a beard/or pubic hair. Yes, I had eaten half the burger and most of the chips by the time I noticed, which has left me absolutely sickened and disgusted. I will never be eating here again. I know mistakes happen in the kitchen, as I am a chef myself. Yet, to find such a 'particular' hair (in this case, a bearded hair or pubic one), is absolutely atrocious and clearly goes to show that there is no proper hygiene in place. I just want to say despite the above issue, the manager was very appolagetic and sorted this matter with no hesitation which I appreciate.

The seating area is strangely arranged, many nooks and crannies. This means you have search for people if friends arrive at different times. It was steak night, food was fair for price with speed of service fairly prompt. Unfortunately, the Greyhound has typical Wethspoon's problem of short pints - needed to ask twice to top up. Overall, it was a fair experience. Would I go again? Yes, if in the area as the beer was good & prices as expected.

Lovely cavernous Wetherspoons in Bromley. It looks small from the outside but extends far back and has a beer garden at the rear. The pub that stands on the site of an old house that dates back to 1532. The first Greyhound pub was built around 1797 and was a three-storey Georgian-style building. The current pub is the second Greyhound on this site and was refurbished by J D Wetherspoon in 2011. The pub is named after the greyhound dogs that were popular in Bromley in the past

The food here was great. Came out very quickly after being ordered. The staff were really friendly and efficient. My only issue was cleanliness. When we arrived and went looking for a table they weren't clean. We took the one that wasn't too bad but it was still dirty. After we had finished our lunch I went to put my dad's plate on mine and felt dried on food underneath that had been missed during wash up/dish wash. At least it was underneath and not on the eating surface. These things do let this nice pub down. Everything else was fine.

It's pretty good as Wetherspoons go. It's a decent size, plenty of seating. Outdoor seating at the front of the building and more upstairs in the sun terrace, some of which is covered. Staff are friendly and helpful, service was quick and good was nice and hot. Toilets are clean.
