Now a beautiful hotel, it offers a private, peaceful setting for a few days relaxation "away from it all" or perhaps a business meeting?
Our hotel is well known in Cumbria as a wonderful romantic wedding venue, either for a civil ceremony or the wedding reception itself or both.
Private parties can also be catered for here, large or small. Why not celebrate an engagement, anniversary or birthday with us?
Or pop in for a pint, and a bite to eat. Our food never disappoints!.

We had our lunch at the Greenhill hotel and it was fabulous. Great service, fabulous food, well priced. A lovely afternoon :)
I stayed here and was quite disappointed. From the website it looks like they cater for weddings and I thought that this place would be to a good standard. My bedroom was alright, but the furniture is dated and the varnish is coming away on the top of the units. The walls between the bedrooms are not insulated and you can hear everything between the rooms. Several of the tiles in the shower were cracked and the grout was stained and the sealant was covered with black mould. The shower was weak and it was hard to get the water hot. Would I return. I visited the hotel for the first time recently, and was pleasantly surprised. It is set in beautiful grounds and is an old traditional manor house style building. I was there for a work meeting so didn't see the rooms, although I would imagine they are classic and inviting going by the rest of the hotel . The staff were friendly and helpful, and provided a lovely lunch which they brought promptly, being discreet and professional. The location is a little remote so you would need a car but it's worth it. My next plan is to stay there overnight and sample one of the rooms ! 😁
Rooms are a bit old fashioned with no desks, sockets hard to reach. Electric shower and the cubicle was a bit mouldy. You do get a proper metal key though and the beds did the job as we had a good sleep. Staff were lovely and breakfast had more interesting options as well as the usual full English. Huge portion sizes and good quality.
A lovely hotel. Certainly old fashioned in decor but not in attitude. Have stayed here before and found it to be excellent value for the area. All rooms are a decent size and clean. Evening meals are good value but exceptionally so in a Sunday. The Sunday inclusive menu is for 3 courses. Good selection of meals and generous helpings. Staff extremely friendly and courteous. Will stay here again.
