About us

Whitewashed and ivy clad with delightful green shutters, The Green Man is evidence Harlow was once a thriving station for horse drawn coaches to and from London.

This charming country pub restaurant sits on pretty hamlet of Mulberry Green at the heart of Old Harlow, on what is known as the ‘village triangle', a green that contains no less than eleven listed buildings. We pride ourselves on classic pub food cooked with care.

Whether it's hand-battered cod & chips, the gourmet burger, or the ever-popular ‘Brewer's Chicken', now is the time to rediscover your old favourites. Make sure you try our traditional Sunday roasts with a huge a Yorkshire pudding and unlimited gravy. The team at the Green Man are passionate about our food menu, so you can relax and enjoy our quality dishes and great service at this fantastic venue.

Located at the central focal point of Mulberry Green, The Green Man is an important landmark in Old Harlow, and clear evidence Mulberry Green was once a coaching station. In fact, the current settlement pattern and collection of public houses in Harlow are also proof of the area's role as a major stop-off point for horse-drawn coaches en route to London from Cambridge, Newmarket, Norwich and elsewhere. The route to London ran south from Harlow Mill via Old Road, Mulberry Green, the High Street and London Road. In 1218, permission was granted to hold a Monday market in Harlow, which led to the growth of Old Harlow.

Such an incredible gem of a place. Stayed here for work and not local to the area but the team are incredibly welcoming and friendly to locals and strangers alike. The pub itself has delicious options, cannot recommend the lasagne enough - it's a real treat and very filling. The rooms are cozy and have everything you need. Housekeeping are thorough and always leave the room refreshed. Everything is perfection!

Had a great birthday afternoon here today, with my wife and 2 granddaughters. Great food and a fine range of beers wines etc. Lovely atmosphere, recently been refurbished, seating more comfortable now. We were seated in a lovely cosy alcove, much better than it used to be.Been coming here for years. The outside area has been upgraded to a very high standard. Have seen various refurbishments in recent years, this may be the best yet. Lovely staff and great food menu. The only drawback is the fact that TVs have been taken out. Considering this summer the football euro championship is on... may affect business. We shall see. Generally though, had a great birthday time here today with family and will be back soon. Cheers.! 🍻🥃🥂😄

Its in quiet residencial area. Rooms are very quiet and comfortable. Friendly staff. Had a issue with water leaking from shower into bedroom area - was moved to another room next day no problem. Lots of parking space. Pleasant pub with restaurant. Enjoyed our 6 night stay very much.

We arrived and we were told our table was not ready and asked to go into the bar to get a drink the bar was full with just one person serving so we did not bother to have a drink. We went back to the restaurant and we were taken to our table from then on the service was impeccable and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend unless you want a drink before your meal however you can always have one at your table like we did.

Relaxing stay I visited Harlow for a wedding. I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. I stayed in room 209 a little weary after reading a review that its was a “hot box” with just a fan to keep it cool. The room was beautiful. Extremely aesthetically pleasing. Bathroom was absolutely gorgeous and the cleanliness of both the room and bathroom was excellent! The room was indeed quite hot but then it was 32° the weekend I stayed and I found after a cold shower and leaving the fan on I was quite comfortable. Slept on top of all the covers quite comfortably. No complaints. There was all the usual amenities; tea, coffee and biscuits, and even complimentary chocolates from what I think is the management, as there was a little note, saying from Joe. All in in all no complaints. Had a wonderful and peaceful stay.
