The Green Dragon is a Grade II Listed building and many original features have been retained and sympathetically maintained to create luxurious bedrooms with your comfort a priority. With quaint shops and varied attractions on our doorstep we are an ideal base for touring the local area.

With beamed ceilings and log fires we are your quintessential pub and hotel with real ales on tap and our legendary steak pie cooking in the kitchen.
Children and well-behaved dogs are welcome and all of our en-suite bedrooms are individually furnished and decorated. All room prices include a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, and we serve meals every day in the restaurant or pub (whichever you prefer). The menu includes all your favourite pub classics including out legendary Steak Pie and our fresh baked home-made Pizzas as well as options for Vegetarians, Coeliac, Vegans etc. We also have a great range of cask ales, all your usual favourite drinks and a few you may have not tried before - I wonder what we can tempt you to try?!
Due to the building being a Grade II listed building our rooms are only accessible by stairs meaning the rooms may be unsuitable for any guests with mobility issues.

Started off by having a nice cold drink at the bar before the kitchen opened for dinner. Had a lovely atmosphere in the bar, tv on quietly showing the new years day football and lots of locals chatting and having a laugh. After being seated for dinner we ordered within 5 mins of being sat down and had our food 15 mins later. My partner had the ham, egg and chips which looked incredible with great portion sizes. I had the rump steak which was cooked perfect , gorgeous chunky chips , plenty of peas, tomatoes and peppercorn sauce. Very quick and pleasant service by all staff we spoke to. 10/10 would go again and recommend to all.
I had been involved in a road traffic accident and needed emergency accommodation. I was very fortunate to find the Green Dragon local to my accident and that there was a room available My review is because of the outstanding service I received including allowing me to stay in the room until 2pm the following day Thank you so much and hopefully I will see you again under better circumstances
We received great service at the Green Dragon. We turned up as a party of 10 without a booking on a Saturday. With a bit of table shuffling we was squeezed into the bar area in an already busy pub. Food was excellent and a wide range of orders was enjoyed by us all. But had we of known how good the steak & ale pie was we would have had 10 portions of that! If we are ever passing Bedale again we will most certainly be stopping at The Green Dragon again!
Lovely big room. Great location. Unfortunately poor night's sleep. This was because the pillows did not suit me. Mainly it was because there are 4 rooms coming off a small area ( maybe 2 Square yards) and you can very clearly hear everyone opening doors and walking immediately outside your door. In fairness, if you are a heavy sleeper, it would be perfect. Xx
Stayed here last night and was made to feel so welcome! Lovely clean room with tea and coffee available to make in room with spacious shower and toiletries. Claire and Steve (the new owners) are amazing and can’t do enough for you. Breakfast in the morning was exceptional as well. Highly recommend The Green Dragon, will be staying again very soon.
