Formally a haunt for sailors and seafaring folk of all types, The Grapes now fits into the more modern cosmopolitan feel of Oxford Street’s “Café Culture”.

The Grapes still has the all important traditional feel of a proper boozer but with a modern twist. The pool table, live music and big screens contribute to the popularity of the venue and the friendly atmosphere and efficient staff ensure that The Grapes is the pub to drink in.

We serve a wide range of national and local real ales and have a splendid wine list selected by Enotria wines and a wine preservation system that ensures a perfect glass every time.

At The Grapes we are real sport fans and show a wide range of sports to accommodate all tastes. There is a strong Southampton F.C. following (we are a 15 minute walk to the stadium) and on home games we are always packed with a friendly atmosphere and many families and children in attendance.

We visited on a quiet Sunday, nice atmosphere still. They didn't serve food but let us bring food in from the takeaway next door which was a great touch.

Noisy horrible sports on TV. Shame, this used to be a great pub. Service was a little slow but pleasant.

All good, super easy checkin/out, no hassle. Actually I was afraid of the noise and kitchen smell, but those were totally inexistent. Cudos! Note: Oh, the only negative thing is the shower, the fixture is broken (read same problem in another past review), guys, fix it!

Recently went to see the Dead Kennedy’s in concert.Needed somewhere to stay and chose The Grapes. 2 great decisions, fantastic gig and fantastic stay. Lovely clean room, really friendly and helpful staff. Bonus, I showed my key at the bar and got 10% off my drinks bill. Highly recommend, check it out if you are staying in Southampton 💯

A proper traditional pub, great beer, very helpful and friendly staff! The bar staff couldn’t do enough for me!! Stayed for the weekend and the rooms was spotless and very welcoming, provided with everything needed plus very local to the city centre. If you’re looking for a “proper” pub with history, I would recommend The Grapes!!!
