I have to congratulate The Governor's staff for excellent service and a superb Xmas dinner. It was far beyond our expectations for such a busy day. They had even reserved a table at the bar in case we had to wait but the table was ready on time. Our first family Xmas Dinner away from home but won't be the last. Many thanks!!!

Excellent service from Olivia throughout the days we were guests. Check-in was smooth. Food and drink service quick and efficient. Always on hand. Good communication from staff even when we couldn’t have dinner in the Restaurant due to problems in the pub. Even offering different suggestions with us not being from the area. Thanks from Room 6.

Usually had good food and service however went for a meal last night and service and food not good walked through door and felt rushed before got coats off asked what we wanted to drink and we just said can we sit down first? Then it was ages before we were asked again! Eventually order taken I requested Beef burgieon (not spelt right) without broccoli advised I could have carrots. At this stage waitress didn't write our order down! How would she remember? Then she came back and advised no beef left so picked pie, again with carrots. Took forever to arrive in fact a table of 4 next to us came in after us was served before us. At no time were we asked if we wanted any more drinks, in fact I had to call her over. Starter arrived I ordered chicken straps which came in a small tin dish not plate. Main course came with broccoli which I particularly asked not to have, gave to my friend who couldn't eat 'cause too hard. Then on to mash well it had a hard surface as though left on plate and was dry. Had sticky toffee pudding which was fine. So will not be going back sad really! Have previously had good food such a shame!

Myself and a colleague stayed here last week for work. It is a great place, nice location with a very reasonable price for the room. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. We were shown to our rooms and everything was explained clearly, which was a nice touch.The rooms are modern and comfortable. Great night sleep! We only ate here for Breakfast. It was a fantastic breakfast for £10. Would stay again. A+

First time in here. We've already booked for Christmas Day so thought we better try the food out and so glad we did. What a lovely place to eat. Food was superb, mixed grill was cooked to perfection. And the service was second to none. Really looking forward to Christmas Dinner now, keep up the good work guys!
