Stay with us at The Golden Lion at Settle in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Head out into the great outdoors, take in the peace and quiet and admire the scenery of this rambler’s paradise, and then return to our cheerful pub and inn, in the heart of this historic market town.
Originally called The Golden Lion, we became The Lion in 2011 but have recently added the ‘Golden’ bit back to our name as we think it sounds rather nice.
We are a four silver star AA rated inn and have 14 beautiful bedrooms, each one with homely touches such as fresh milk for a cup of tea and chunky biscuits for dunking and nibbling.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights earlier this month, we couldn’t fault the atmosphere and friendly staff. The breakfast was spot on, the best sausage I have had in a long time. Excellent base for the train trip to Carlisle.
We went for a meal on New Year’s Eve. The menu was varied and had lots of options. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was really good and we would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a nice meal. There was a folk band which was a lovely touch for New Year’s Eve.
We were at the Golden Lion for Christmas. I would fully recommend this establishment. The staff were very welcoming. They were polite. They couldn't do enough for you. Our room no 14 is big and comfy. We have booked again for June 2024
This is a lovely place to go for a meal, or just for a drink. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and service is good. There's a lovely log fire which makes it very cosy on a cold day. It's a dog friendly pub that provides drinking bowls and blankets for their 4 legged visitors. I haven't stayed overnight here so can't comment on the rooms...Definitely worth a visit..🙂
