About us

This was originally part of the Golden Acorn Hotel. Most of the first phase of the town centre, including the Golden Acorn Hotel, was formally opened on 2 December 1964. At the end of 1983, the Golden Acorn was given a facelift by new owners and became The Albany, in keeping with the newly adopted heraldic theme. The Albany Herald is one of the officers of the Court of the Lord Lyon, King of Arms, which controls the granting of arms in Scotland.

pub grub at decent prices. started going regular now for a breakfast and also for tea with my son, a few times a month, as the food's not bad and the prices don't scalp you. Staff are always happy to help, nothing too much trouble.

Visited as a group. Someone asked for Scampi and fish and chips arrived. The fish was taken back and then the manager arrived saying it would cost an extra £3 for the scampi. This was due to their error at the bar. The tone used wasn't the nicest. The oil the fish and scampi is cooked in is also dirty.

Our stay was in general very good, but the only issues we had with the room was the awful smell from the toilet the first night, the second night it was gone. There's also no Aircon, but the windows do open. The room was nice and spacious and clean, though the shower messes water all over the floor. The restaurant/bar downstairs made our stay absolutely worth it. Fantastic food and prices which you have to visit! So all in all a good place to stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a family wedding nearby, our room was modern, clean and comfortable and had all the facilities you would expect. Room service staff were excellent as was all the staff at the site, breakfast is not included but cheap enough downstairs in the wetherspoons pub, the lift was out of order on our visit and this could be a problem for some guests as thier are 4 floors of rooms. Free parking and wi fi is available on site, the location is not very scenic but was practical for our visit. enjoyable short stay and I would recommend for good value 😃
