About us

The Hobnails Inn is a 15th century character Inn located in Little Washbourne, near Tewkesbury. It was originally built in 1280 and then opened to the public in 1473 as a public house. It is suggested that the name ‘Hobnails’ came from the Tewkesbury Nail Making Industry as a Hobnail is a short nail with a thick head used to increase the durability of boots & shoes.

This Grade ll Listed building exudes bags of character with open beams and a welcoming log fire for those winter days, where you can see the pub in times a past. For the warmer weather there is a large garden opening up to the beautiful countryside, with plenty of seating for alfresco dining and room for the children to play.

We at the Hobnails Inn offer a good traditional food, good wine and fine Real Ales and a welcoming smile!

Our aim is to bring you fresh, locally sourced, highest quality food from our kitchen direct to your table and not forgetting the famous ‘Hobnails Bap’!

We recommend booking your table in advance as we can be very busy!.

Lovely place with very generous portions and accommodating staff. My partner and I chanced it on a sunny Sunday afternoon, fully expecting to be turned around without a booking. The place was busy and staff clearly off their feet managing the Sunday roast peak time. Instead, we were made welcome, asked to grab a drink and peruse the menu at the bar while a table could be sorted out. The menu offered a selection of country pub classics, I ended up having turkey roast, my partner went with a side of calamari (absolute highlight) and then scampi. We underestimated the size of the portions which were huge! Roast came with generous portion of vegetables that were not overcooked (still a rarity in a British pub), scampi came with fries and fresh side salad. Everything was really tasty, waiting staff happy to help and all this at a really reasonable price. Highly recommend to anyone in the area fancying a hearty, non-frills (but cooked very well) meal, or a drink. Loved the historic character inside, and the beautiful countryside views

This is a fantastic very cosy, yet large, country pub. We enjoyed a couple of pints and some very tasty pigs in blankets from the specials menu. The open fire is magnificent and the decor in general is great. Plenty of wooden beams and several areas that feel like a building within a building, including the main bar which has an (internal) slate roof. 100% would come again if in the area.

Fairly busy, we rang for a table this morning and luckily they had a table spare! Great selection of veg & cauli cheese was included in that selection! Winning!

Sunday roast was lovely. Beautiful historical pub, very friendly service. The banoffee pie was just the best I’ve had.

Didn't expect the food was that good but it was extremely good. Excellent service and courteous friendly staff. The fish & chips was divine as the fish was fresh & batter was crunchy but most of all a huge portion of fish. Spicy Thai veg burger was tasty. The Hunter chicken was also good. Highly recommended place for your meal.
