Restaurant food was clearly chef led. Great taste and presentation. Breakfast menu amazing. Bedroom was thoughtfully furnished in keeping with the Old Lodge, clean and adequate for 2 nights stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
What an absolute gem. Overlooking the common with spectacular views. The bar has a real cozy feel and is dog friendly so lots of four-legged friends who have a bowl of biscuits free of charge at the bar. We had a superior room which had a lovely four poster bed , the rooms were very warm but with the window open we found a happy medium. Dinner was superb a nice choice on the menu we had the sharing platter which could have easily sufficed as a main meal. Followed by mushroom ravioli which was creamy and flavoursome and belly pork which was tender. No room for pudding unfortunately as the choices were excellent. The breakfast was excellent both of us opting for full English and the teas and coffees were plentiful. Would definitely stay again.
The hotel is situated on top of the common and the views are spectacular. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean with a small shower room and wc. Not the biggest room I have ever stayed in. The bathroom door doesn't fully open as the bed is in the way although access is still fairly easy. The building is beautiful and there are a number of amazing carvings all over the premises. Would love to know the origin of some of them. Breakfast was fantastic with a good selection of well presented and prepared food. Recommended
We went for Sunday roast and it was very nice. Food was cooked well and tasted great. Prices were a little high but can be forgiven as service and food were of high standard. Did not book any rooms so gave 5 stars as I am not in a place to say any different.
Just celebrated my Birthday here. The staff were so friendly, helpful and really went the extra mile to make the celebration so special. The food was amazing. Highly recommend the burger. But my friends loved the fish of the day, fish and chip, ravioli, vegan burger and all the sharing platter starters. The rooms were clean and really nicely decorated. They are quirky with wonky floors but really comfortable. There was really good choice at breakfast and lots and lots of great coffee. Shout out to Alex who really added to the birthday fun.
