About us

Our latest addition to The Forge Hammer is our newly installed Microbrewery know as Lydbrook Valley Brewing Company. Production started in April 2018. We currently produce 2 cask conditioned ales. Lydbrook Valley I.P.A (India Pale Ale) 4.3-4.4% abv and Lydbrook Valley Viaduct Ale (English Ale) 4.3-4.4 abv, both are usually unfined so are Vegan friendly. We will usually have an experimental beer on as well, from Friday 19th April this will be a single hopped I.P.A using only Eureka hops throughout the brewing process.

From Easter until the end of September we have a Gourmet Burger truck situated in the car park at The Forge Hammer. Serving a selection of different snacks, meals and drinks. Why not visit their website at www.deli-verance.co.uk/ to find out more. Open in the morning to serve early birds whether they be local, canoers, walkers or just passers by.

Incorporated within The Forge Hammer is River Spice Indian restaurant. Offering a new and exciting taste of the Indian Sub-Continent. River Spice staff offer diners a complete gastronomic experience. We work hard in maintaining exceptionally high standards of cooking and service for every customer. We cater for group bookings, events, special occasions and outside catering.

If you haven't been to sample their Indian Takeaway or mico brewed IPA you are missing an absolute treat.

Lovely beer. Good Indian food. Great landlady. Awful landlord. His 'elbow toss' response in these reviews, says it all. He wants 'his kind of customers.' Anyone else can go to hell. Hospitality doesn't work like that. A cross between Basil Fawlty, Tommy Saxondale and Reinhard Heydrich. It may impress the locals (Forest of Dean crowd) but gave the place a feel of The Slaughtered Lamb. Shame. I'd have happily targeted this place for a proper session. Not now. I'm guessing I ain't alone.

left canoes at the river and walked up in torrential 2023 summer rain. The pub was a great stop and the onside brewed beer was great. Really liked the outdoor sheltered tables so we could stay in our wet gear and get out of the rain whilst enjoying the beer.. Great place hope it continues so I can visit again on a better day

Ingenious sheltered picnic benches, perfectly placed to catch the early evening sunshine. Excellent beer and tasty Indian food to eat outside or take home.

Very good home brewed beer, always friendly when we've turned up. Plan to frequent more often, been told the Indian out back is also good, but not tried that yet.
