The team at The Farmers Boy are fantastic, really welcoming and hospitable. The menu has some good gluten free options outside of the usual which is nice to see. The food overall is great, as is the atmosphere so it's well worth a visit!
Great pie, mash and mushy pea lunch. Smashing creme brûlée, all home made. Comfy country pub and well looked after by the delightful and lovely Libby and Lola. Look forward to going back. Thanks guys .
We waited 2 hours for starters and even longer for the mains! The food was ok when it finally arrived but seriously not worth the wait. Staff were friendly and pleasant but constantly lied to us. After being told numerous times our meals were next we got so fed up we asked how long it would be otherwise we would have to leave. We had diabetics in our party and one of the waitresses asked if they had glucose tablets on them to tide them over until the food arrived! Other excuses included lots of people had ordered pies (no really - it’s a pie restaurant! There is even a pie on their sign!), also the chef has to keep opening the oven door which slows the cooking time! Stupidly we then ordered deserts after being told they took no time to get out. They all came out separately and without spoons to eat them with. This is the second time we have been here and the second time we have had terrible service. We won’t be returning and will be advising our friends to stay away too.
This is a fantastic little pub located 8 miles from Gloucester.We received a warm welcome .The staff were all very friendly and dinner and breakfast were first class. The pies are an absolute must. The pub is very cosy with old fashioned beams and open fire. We'll done to all for making our stay a lovely one. We will return.
Phil and his team are brilliant! A lovely place with a fabulous atmosphere. The food is fabulous and the breakfast is good too. Lovely little rooms to stay in behind the pub. Quiet, comfortable, clean and well appointed. Recommend a stay overnight of a pass by visit for a meal. You'll not be disappointed!
