Called in here by chance while driving home across the Cotswolds after Christmas. Perfect hearty food, lovely beer, small wooden tables in a stone pub with fireplace. Perfect.
Just stopped for a quick drink and a bite to eat. Had the Battered prawns and the baked Camembert off the light bite menu. Both were delicious, the staff were friendly and the food came quickly despite it being a busy lunch time service. All the main meals that came to the other tables looked tasty and had good portion sizes.
Popped in with my daughter having recently moved to the area and couldn't recommend more highly. We were welcomed with open arms and spent the most wonderful evening there. Not sure why there are negative reviews but our experience could not have been more different. Friendly, warm, great conversation and great drinks. Am proud to now call this my 'local'. Thanks everyone for a fab evening!!!
It was a very disappointing visit to this pub. We gave the benefit of doubt to the negative reviews. We were a group staying local who visited for an evening meal. Our server was intrusive, offensive, and verging on aggressive when we politely observed that we had been served a dish that was actually something different. The staff member was very likely not sober by their slurring. We made a very hasty exit so we could enjoy our evening somewhere more welcoming.
Not sure what issues the male landlord has in his life but he shouldn’t take his woes out on his customers. Rude service and made to feel unwelcome. Not to mention being asked to move our car from the car park to the road (all of 5 meters) - we also saw another young couple being asked to do the same when PLENTY of space! Such a shame as great location after enjoyable walk around the area, could be amazing if friendlier to non locals.
