This pub can be found on the corner of Kings Quay Street and Castlegate Street. Only occasional real ales direct from the cask, but at other times a considerable range of bottled ales, including bottle-conditioned real ales in a bottle (RAIB) are available behind the bar. Oldest Harwich pub still trading as a pub. Closing times advertised as 'until late'.
Good friendly proper old fashion pub good ales beers
A little quirky traditional pub that certainly has an acquired taste. Bartender has an attitude but that's her personality which gives the pub character. A few drinks there that are very different to standard pubs and taste great. Box ciders, usual larger. Plenty of seating and history and decorations give it that unique twang. Loved it and the location is perfect if exploring the older part of Harwich town.
Thank you Tracy. Great rough and ready corner pub bottled beers and a great selection (11) of boxed ciders.. one Cask beer direct from barrel on Friday/weekends, you get what you see.. VERY well worth a visit recommended.. It's as all pubs were and should be... Nick
Proper little boozer, we visited a few times over the shanty festival. There was a choice of 7 ales straight out of the barrel an 12 ciders out of the box. Great pub lovely landlords it is what it is.
Fantastic basic beer drinking pub. We walked into the pub , my friend started to put a mask on as we had been refused entry in the last pub because I do not wear one . The landlord said I'll not serve you if you wear one of those masks! Literally a breath of fresh air and common sense. In the previous pub no one was wearing a mask whilst seated but you had to wear one to enter the pub!!!
