This pub stands in what was once a field, known, in the 17th century, as Giddy Bridge.
It was a match day in Southampton so the place was absolutely rammed packed, but managed to find the last table outside by the entrance! They had loads of staff serving, so service was pretty quick when they were so busy. Food arrived speedily too, hot and tasty. (Comment about smokers, not the pub: A group of customers who decided stand by the entrance right by our table to smoke! The wind was blowing in our direction too! 😳 There were other diners behind us too. Luckily, they finished before food arrived, otherwise, I would definitely say something although I wasn't happy with the smoke billowing towards me before. Other smokers moved to the other side of the entrance, the pavements near the road. Much more considerate!)
After placing the order we waited for about 30 minutes, and customers who came later than us had got their meals. No one told us that they didn’t have one of the items in one of our meals during the half hour until we asked them to be quicker. Then that whole meal was replaced by only a bowl of porridge, even though other items in it were not out of stock. Another 30 minutes later we got the other meal we ordered at the beginning. One of the waitresses was impatient. There was also oil on the table, and my elbows got sticky after touching it.
Not bad pub for a cheeky breakfast gets very lively on the weekend good atmosphere
This was a lovely pub for breakfast, with a modern design conveying warmth! The counter is well-presented, service was standard and I enjoyed a Miner's Benedict with Orange Juice. Seating is comfortable, staff were friendly and location is easy!
Friendly enough service and a clean pub with good atmosphere. I had the chicken wings with two hot sauce and an Otter Bridge ale for under £8. Ale was very good, but the wings tasted tangy.
