A family orientated pub on the outskirts of Baldock serving food all day every day and with a large drinks' range. We have a large beer garden with outdoor children's play area.
Leave A1M at junction 9 and follow signs into Baldock. Pub is first building on the right hand side. If approaching from Baldock town take 2nd exit at Tesco roundabout and proceed up hill - pub is last building on left hand side.
Really enjoyed the meal here. The restaurant is inviting, seating comfortable and the toilets easily accessible and very clean. The food was cooked well and very tasty. Menu had a nice choice of different foods for most tastes. Our group especially enjoyed the Burger Stack, Korean Chicken Strips, Sirloin Steaks, Brownies and the Sticky Toffee Cheesecake. Only suggestion I can make to the restaurant is to include a drinks menu at the table. Currently it's only wine but as they are a public house there is a lot more to choose from but as you choose from your table it's not all apparent. This could be a Web page as I guess it would be extensive. Pictures are of my rump steak meal, onion rings are a side extra, the brownies and the Cheesecake.
Close to the main road, is this cozy restaurant with nice taste to grab from a selection of either set menu or à la carte menu, male bartender and waitress Anna had served me well with smile and efficiency. Steak is my favourite English, and the one I had is one of the best in the last couple of years dining out experience, as you definitely need thick cut to bring yourself a medium rear to appreciate it. But the charged sauce given is lass than half size of the cup, which makes the experience a bit awkward. Bread selection from the starter is very few comparing to Italian restaurants, while the sauce and olive oil are authentic. Please do not follow my own opinion and go judge by yourself.
Friendly staff, acknowledged straight away. Restaurant and bar were lovely and clean no dirty tables, staff were straight on it. Was served by Bailey who was on top form when told about my rare black pepper allergy, asking chefs and checking food and drinks as my allergy isn't actually listed on most allergen boards. Food was delicious (chef's board) presented beautifully. A previous experience here a while ago sadly was not as pleasant but glad I gave it another chance vastly improved. Range of drinks could be increased but what was there was satisfactory to say the least. Left with a full stomach and a much better experience.
We had a lovely meal here, I had scampi n chips and a starter of Korean BBQ chicken, and my partner had a lovely chicken n ham hock pie which she said was the best she has tasted for a long while. Only thing I would say there wasn't enough scampi but the meal was superb, the waitress was lovely too, will definitely be going back...
It's good to be back to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a lovely Sunday roast lunch, and my roast beef was delicious! For desserts, I had a mini mocha torte and coffee, while my husband had a sticky toffee pudding, which I found very sweet and overpowering. Overall, it was a nice experience. :)
