New owners are bloody fantastic
Ok. Where do I start?. Firstly Kirkburton is an OK village. I live near here and there are some lovely people and some nice places to visit. Unfortunately The George isn’t one of them. People who visit pubs regularly will be familiar with the scenario.. a poorly frequented pub that, no matter what time of day you go in, you are guaranteed to have to listen to a small band of foul mouthed locals stood at the bar... “had a s**t night last f*****g night, what a f*****g nightmare didn’t know what the f**k I was f*****g doing I was so f*****g p****d” etc etc. No wonder only the pub only has a few people visiting it because what decent person wants to listen to that non-stop?. When will landlords and landladies realise that this is one of the reasons pubs are closing down in their hundreds if not thousands year by year. Move with the times and survive, maybe even thrive. Cater for low life foul mouthed waste of space and you’ll be another closed pub statistic. It’s not rocket science. There has been a large influx of people moving into this village with all the new housing estates. The village is busy and thriving. Ask yourselves why this pub is not!

Colin & Angela took over the George less than 4 weeks ago and as a regular for the last umpteen years I can safely say that we have finally got a team who want to and no how to run our pub how it should be. One happy Lizard.
