Very disappointing restaurant. We went there for my Birthday meal. Waited 15 minutes for someone just to take our order. When we were seated we were told the fish & chip's were not available. That's fine. When we finally got to order my wife ordered the pork. Sorry that's now finished. 40 minutes later our food came. I ordered the beef. They Brought me chicken. My wife started her dinner. The potatoes were luke warm. When my beef came out. The potatoes were luke warm. 3 potatoes with 2 slices of tuff beef and a yorkshire. A small side dish of veg to share. Not worth £48. When I was finally served, I tried to order a drink but he rushed off. I went to the bar. No staff at the bar. We were given a 20% voucher which is valid until the end of the month. Its the 28th! Not going to use it obviously. Won't return in my life time.
Never stopped in the rooms but always go here for food when we come down and it's lovely. The building is beautiful. All staff are lovely and friendly and the food is really really good too. Definitely a place to stop for a quick pint and food
Amazing food and atmosphere at the George and pilgrim. Having been before I had to return this week. We chose to eat here both evenings as the food was so good! Can’t thank the head waiter Matt enough for being so accommodating, we had a lovely table in the front by the window. Really nice food and great friendly staff. Will be back again ☺️
Love the history and location of this hotel. Especially the 15th Century tape holding the ceiling up. The rooms water feature was also lovely. The staff are friendly and at our breakfast found them very helpful and kind, however the breakfast portion sizing is somewhat lacking given the price. I love staying at this hotel however the prices for next year are obscene (£320) given the issues with the rooms. If you’re looking for a convenient place to stay in the centre of town then it’s perfect but otherwise we will book elsewhere next year.
A must when you are in Glastonbury!! I was so impressed with this lovely pub, I recommended it to everyone I know!! It's like a spectacular museum, a place so rich in history, and yet so vibrant, welcoming, and cool!! We went for a drink in the evening and liked it so much we came back the next day for lunch. The ambiance was the same. Wonderful!! Stylish and quirky, with so many little touches that remind the visitors of centuries gone by...Henry the 8th slept there, apparently. I loved the stone walls and stained glass windows in the first room, it almost felt like we were in a chapel. Only later, when reading more about it online, I found out that it is considered 'haunted'. Well, for me, the vibe was extremely positive, so the ghosts must be quite friendly. The staff are super friendly, for sure. We did not sleep there - indeed, I am not that keen on meeting Henry 's ghost, but next time I am in Glastonbury, I'll be back there, without a doubt. It's also ideally situated in the very heart of the town, opposite the Abbey. A true gem, a place that superbly combines the past and the present to look confidently towards the future!
