Gorgeous Carvery, Yorkshire puds are amazing. Dom the chef is fantastic and so friendly. All the team are brilliant. Great food and great service 9/10 I'd give it 10 out of 10 if they'd do cauliflower cheese or red cabbage ha 😉
Large car park and easy access on A59. Went on Over 55's discounted Thursday night. £8.95 for carvery. Choice of turkey and pork. Yorkshire pudding, roast and mashed potatoes, carrots and parsnips, broccoli and green beans. Also option for fish or casserole. A vat of delicious gravy and all sauces you could imagine I.e. horseradish, mint, apple, mustard etc. We then shared a sticky toffee pudding with cream. Absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Will be back soon.
It was okay. Simply okay.. Just okay... First time trying this place, there's always been alot of hype about the Gorge... We went today with options of Beef, turkey, chicken and fish... There wasn't a great deal of choice.. Of meat and veg.. I had the beef... It wasn't pink in the middle but it was good quality beef and not chewy. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The place was very clean. The whole place had a canteen vibe with food to match. We are very greatful that we went when it wasn't busy... Definitely not worth the hype...
Came here with my friends for a carvery. Plenty of parking and friendly staff who will have a chat with you. Food also lovely, one of the best carvery beef's I ever had. Deserts are well worth the money too. Big portions, so much I couldn't finish all of my food. Coming over again on Saturday and I cant wait.
The sign says “Best Carvery in Yorkshire” which is a bold statement. The George matches this claim with aplomb - an excellent serving of different meats, complimented by perfectly cooked vegetables and lashings of thick tasty gravy. Drinks are well priced and the staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. Dog friendly too - which is always appreciated!
