This pub is near the site of one of the five gateways through the medieval city walls. Originally called Wales Gate, it became known as Blounts Gate after a former gatekeeper. A blue plaque nearby indicates the location of the gateway to the Town Quay. Although the nearest water is now more than 200m away, until 150 years ago, the Taff flowed along what is now Westgate Street and, until the end of the 18th century, the quay was Cardiff’s main outlet to the sea.
A very nice place with very reasonable prices and great variety of food and drinks. Food taste was average, we ordered a steak and a burger. The cocktails were very tasty. Overall a pleasant experience. They, however, don't play premier league games on tv.
Fab pub and great food considering how busy the place was!
Bang outside the principality stadium , clean , according to the wife , ladies toilets have the facility where u can take your drink with you in the cubicle what a good idea
It was a total pleasure to join the Welsh guards veterans on there remembrance to the Galahad event they made me welcome and part of the family friends for life respect to the veterans they don't get enough credit and they are a jolly bunch of young lads in a grown man's body thank you for your service each and everyone and the fallen we toasted you boys to
This was a great pub to go for a drink at, with a vibrant design contributed by the likes of the stairs and bar! The Welsh flag is a top addition, the staff were friendly and menus are available at tables. I sat comfortably for a refreshing drink of Black Grape Vodka, although it had not been mixed properly as I could taste vodka too strong at the bottom.
