The Gate is a beautiful country pub on the outskirts of Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire. We have a huge garden to the rear which seats 250 people, along with a cosy indoor space for you to enjoy our food and drinks. Dogs are welcome both inside and outside of the pub.

This is a great pub that serves the local community and, judging by the welcomes and banter between staff and clientele, very much loved and well respected. It's very friendly (people and dogs) and you can expect a warm welcome and top notch food. Portions are generous and well priced. The pizza is delicious, as is the brunch, fish and chips, cauliflower bites, sweet potato fries... I mean I could go on. I've tried a lot of dishes over time and I've never been disappointed, in either taste nor presentation. They also have a garden and marquee that can be hired for events and they run quiz nights and band nights. This is a popular pub so book ahead especially if you want to chow down a Sunday roast!
Lovely pub. Its only small, so booking is advisable. But the food was excellent. Sunday roast was one of the best we have had! Children's menu has great choices and good portion sizes too. Dogs allowed inside which was lovely! Can't wait to return in the summer months!
Had a lovely lunch with a friend there last week. Staff could not have been more helpful & friendly. Made to feel very welcome. Food was very good and atmosphere was great.
6 of us visited The Gate for lunch and drinks after a walk. We received a warm welcome and taken to our reserved table. Pub was very busy so glad had booked ahead. The the guys who took our order and served us were brilliant. Friendly and polite. The food was absolutely delicious and we had a variety of dishes between us. Sea bass was amazing as was the fish finger bap. One of our group chose from the brunch menu which is available until 1pm. Had the full English breakfast which she said was lovely. Will definitely be returning soon. Thank you!
Decided to go for a few drinks and food at The Gate. The bar staff were really friendly. They said that the inside tables were all booked but we were able to sit in until the booked guest arrived. Food menu gave a great selection. We ordered a sharing platter and it was perfect. Plenty enough for two people. We will be back as the breakfast/brunch menu looks good 👍
