Lovely find on the way back from down south. Very warm welcome including our 2 dogs, the food was excellent best Sunday roast out for a long long time. Great selection of gluten free options. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.
If you're looking for a friendly country pub in beautiful countryside with accommodation this is the place to stay. We were made welcome from the very start with a smiling greeting from our hostess until we left after breakfast. All the young staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially Lucy N and Brandon. Would definitely recommend.
We were recommended this place for a Sunday Roast dinner by couple we'd just met and were not disappointed! The food tastes as good as it looks, the staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. It's a lovely location near The Chase, perfect to visit after a Sunday stroll 😁
It was our first visit to the restaurant. When we walked in we had a waitress giving us funny look and not even smiling or saying hello. We had a roast dinner which was quite tasty but it took a while to be delivered to our table ( half an hour) staff not very attentive and we had to ask for dessert menu ourselves nobody was checking on us during that time. It’s a shame that staff let them down because it’s a really nice place and they could be quite successful if they had staff properly trained.
We came here for a vacation and to visit the nearby Watership Down. It was a lovely experience. The staff is very nice and helpful and the atmosphere in the inn was impressive. The food was good and always came in large portions. Only with the rooms you should consider, that with three people it is very crammed and you don't have much space for yourself. But this is just a minor complaint. All in all I can recommend this inn if you need a place to stay when you are near Newbury.
