Typical old school pub run by Green King overing great beer like Abbot Ale etc. sister pub to the Red House which is up the road. We went there because the Red House was busy with a quiz night.

Always had a warm welcome here. Good pub grub at very reasonable prices, especially the Seniors menu and the 2 meals for under £12. Main menu also very reasonable. Staff are happy to welcome four-legged friends too.

Had a bit of an issue tonight. Love the place, but Eliza is not the best bar staff. I walked in, up to the bar. No acknowledgement, she went and put some change into the pool table, came back, walked right by me, again, looked straight through me as if I wasn't there. Went into the back for a couple of minutes, then, finally, she deigned to serve me. Not the normal service from this place, which is normally top notch. Won't let her put me off though, cos the rest of the crew are excellent, shame she was the only one on.

Was telling our friends how nice the food was.. went on Friday and wow its gone down hill which is a shame.. we were given dirty cutlery so had to ask for more..did get an apology for that.. the food wasn't great.. 4 meals.. the burger was burnt,the two steak and ale pies were tasteless and my hunters chicken (the chicken wasn't 100% cooked. We left and wished we just had take away else where..
