The Fox & Hounds is located in the charming village of Uffington, South Oxfordshire, with thatched cottages in beautiful countryside surroundings. The Pub has 4 Star B&B accommodation, a beamed bar, and unrivalled views of The Ridgeway and Uffington White Horse.
Situated in The Vale of the While Horse, off the A420 between Oxford and Swindon, Uffington is about 8 miles north of the M4 through Lambourne, of race-horse fame. The nearest Market Towns are Faringdon and Wantage, each about 15 minutes' drive. Shrivenham Defence Academy is just 3 miles away at the Watchfield roundabout on the A420.
The Village has a 13th Century Church, shop and Post Office, and several literary connections. It was the early home of Thomas Hughes, whose renowned book "Tom Brown's Schooldays" begins in the old school here. It is now an interesting little museum. John Betjeman lived here in the 1930's and 40's, during which time he wrote many famous works. Tolkein, while based in Oxford, visited this area, and it is said much of his inspiration for Middle Earth came from the Ridgeway nearby.

We had a lovely meal on Saturday night at the Fox. The ox cheek was amazing and served with perfectly cooked crunchy veggies and mash and a fabulous gravy! My son had the burger and said it was great. Compliments to the chef! Such a lovely atmosphere and a great evening out. Thanks team.
Just had delicious 😋 fish finger and chicken club sandwiches. Staff friendly and very accommodating, it was also a good pint. Will be back sometime.
We enjoyed a very tasty Sunday roast today after a damp walk to the horse. Would highly recommend for quality, portion size and value for money and from a Yorkshire Lass the Yorkshire Puddings were spot on.
Excellent little village pub that doesn't try and be anymore than it is. Good traditional pub food with good portions at reasonable prices. Nice garden and views of the White Horse and Ridgeway
We stayed 3 nights in September, enjoyed it. The accomodation is first rate, slept well. Good breakfasts. The pub itself is a friendly place with good beer and typical pub grub.

The White Horse is one of Britain's oldest inns and with its thatched roof, oak beams, log fires and warm welcome, is probably one of its most beautiful as well.
