Went for a pint this evening after 12 day's in a row working, definitely deserved, and I fancied another asked Vince the landlord if he knew of a taxi firm who he could recommend so I could enjoy another without driving and collect my car the next day. Most landlord's would hand you a business card and end of story. Vince however simply said taxis are as rare as honest MPs, and offered to drop me off. This is why I love Yorkshire this is why I live in Yorkshire and Vince is a shining example of what a traditional landlord should be. Pub's immaculate service is impeccable and the locals are lovely. food great, not quite gastro but much better than pub grab service was slow, but staff very friendly and helpful. some reasonable gluten free options. a real local farmers pub, definitely worth a visit
What a fabulous Sunday lunch, called in by pure luck, had a prawn cocktail, the basket was made of cucumber and filled with prawns and lettuce it was such a delight that chef puts a lot of effort into her work, well done Chef. We both had Sunday lunch wife had lamb I had beef got to say it was absolutely beautiful, you will not be disappointed here, chef makes jams etc which are well presented in the bar we bought crab apple & mint jelly + summer fruits jam, I know the crab apple & mint is beautiful, hats off to chef, the service was brilliant. Definitely call in again when where close all in all 5 star.
I arrived quite late hoping for for food. Had the best bacon chops, chips, peas, onion rings and mushrooms ever. Ashamed to say I couldn't eat it all, I never leave food on a plate! The welcome and service were the best and the Theakston Ale was great too. Really lovely. Many thanks, Chris
Fabulous food and service. Very accommodating for a wheat allergy and would do any of the menu gluten free - they have a dedicated deep fryer so my husband enjoyed fish and chips. The pan fried bass on noodles was amazing . Good beer also , what more can you want?
