A village gem, dating back to the 18th Century. Owned by Harveys of Lewes and home to a Golfing Society and the Muckspreaders Society.
A beautiful and busy dog friendly country pub with a large conservatory leading to a suntrap garden. Cowden's railway station is just over a mile away. Listed in the latest 2019 CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
We had a delicious meal and an excellent rosé wine (which is often not the case in some pubs) Both hosts were lovely, and the atmosphere was welcoming and easy. Would definitely return.
This pub serves traditional pub food and for those that want something a little bit more special their blackboard specials will offer you some Thai favourites and a good selection of fish and meat dishes. All tried and tested favourites so why do I always go for the pie of the day? Probably because it’s always delicious and packed with flavour! Well done and thank you for looking after us both on our recent visit.
This simple Country pub is warm and welcoming. The landlord could not have been more helpful and friendly and the chefs were amazing, the quality and quantity of the food was outstanding. We will definitely be back for more! Thank You!
We had an amazing evening 🙌 Everyone was incredibly friendly and the food was so delicious. We will be back soon. Thank you!
Amazing Sunday Lunch Recently had Sunday lunch here. There is a wide choice of food. They don't just do Roasts on a Sunday but the full menu. Food is freshly prepared and delicious. Presentation is very good. Portions are generous. Prices are reasonable for the area. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. We had roast chicken and chicken pie. The pub is really trying to diversify post lockdown. Ranging from takeaways, to cream teas on a Saturday, take away coffees, marquee in the garden for the British 'summer' and beyond, quiz nights, special menus. I would heartily recommend this pub as a venue to eat or just to have a drink. You'll get a warm welcome.

This wonderful unspoilt pub has thankfully been saved from the threat of closure in 2014 following the long-serving landlady moving into a care home and her subsequent passing away, and after it being run by a band of locals for nearly 5 years
