About us

They don't call it The Foundry for nothing. This atmospheric pub with its high pointed ceilings and cosy corners was converted from the ironworks that once stood here. Most of the fittings you see, from the welding masks, chains and ladders to the copper boiler that curves round one set of seats, were discovered on site. It's this authentic history that gives The Foundry its special character and that, along with good service, good food and good drink, accounts for its wide appeal, attracting everyone from pensioners to partygoers, young couples and sports fans all through the week.

It's a spacious, city-centre bar, but also one full of warmth, giving The Foundry a surprising sense of intimacy. The Foundry is a great place to settle in with friends during the winter months and, thanks to the windows that open out onto the street, a bright and airy place to enjoy a refreshing Belhaven Extra Cold during the summer. The authentic character extends to the courtyard where the tables are made from Glenfiddich whisky barrels. With two Sky boxes and 11 TV screens, it is popular with sports fans - mainly football but everything from wrestling to tennis too - and thanks to the hearty menu, served 12pm until 9pm, it is also a hit with families (kids welcome until 8pm). Another plus point in this friendly bar is the good disabled access.

Visited The Foundry with a group of colleagues on a Wednesday afternoon. It was our Christmas lunch. We had to preorder and pay a £5 deposit per person if ordering from the Christmas menu. The Christmas menu was really good with a lot of options. They also had gluten free options. I had the festive burger and a chocolate mocha tart. Both were really good. The staff were attentive and very friendly. I'd happily go back to try their standard menu.

Just wanted to say to say how much we enjoyed ourselves today (4 November), the table that was booked for us had a perfect view of the TV for the football match . The food came quickly and was amazing and the service was fantastic. The staff never stopped!! Credit to you all! Xxx

Great centrally located sports bar with good brews on tap. Comfortable, casual, well priced, cozy, you can enjoy it open even on Sunday and grab a convenient cab or bus home just outside.

Went for a commemorative drink as it was our late father's favourite pub. Its under new ownership and we think its lost a little of the rustic feel and look, lights could be dimmed a little at 1st it felt like being in a hospital. Stayed for a quick half then left.

What a great place to take a meal or enjoy some drinks. The ambience is very cozy. Kind regards from Germany to „Ewan“ (I hope I wrote his name right)! He is a very kind bar keeper and is always helpful. We hope to come back one time ☺️
