Did not stay in the hotel. Only went to The Fleece Inn pub for some food. Really lovely food. Had haddock and chips, would recommend. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was really pretty. Log fire had a nice and cosy atmosphere. I believe the pub has been around since the 15th century, and you can tell by the interior design. They have won many awards for various things and are part of the National Trust. Dog friendly!

Went on a Saturday for special family lunch. Food very good but sauces etc requested not delivered. Sat in outer room. Fire wouldn't light after many attempts by staff. Little electric heater near table was broken. Sat on hard bench by window which was so uncomfortable n draft from January weather froze me solid for the rest of the day. Elderly father and family didn't dare take off coats as so cold. Shame it spoilt a special family event. We spent several hundred pounds and underwhelmed at the experience. We are locals who often sit eat with friends in horseboxes. We would have been warmer !! Disappointing experience that day.

Beautiful old country pub with thatched roof and log fires. Good menu and helpful, friendly staff. We ate for lunch and enjoyed fish and chips and Cauliflower curry, both were very good.

What a fantastic find. We booked the fleece as we were staying nearby. From start to finish I would say that it’s the best pub food experience we’ve ever had. Our hostess Alex was superb….so friendly, passionate and knowledgeable about the 600 year history of the place. The local lager was fantastic, the starters were top notch (beef brisket crumpet with Stilton and pigs cheeks), the mains were perfect (local faggots and the blade of beef) and we finished off with the cheese. We sat next to the fire with our dog who was fussed over. Impeccable.

This fabulous historic building makes a beautiful pub, especially with all its tasteful Christmas lighting and open fires. The food was really excellent and generously portioned. There was some sort of delay with our mains which wasn't explained, but it was a very busy service. We will be back. This is a pub not a hotel and they only have one room you can book to stay in as far as I know.
