Ed and Jill Loftus became the new landlords in 2010, and extensively refurbished the pub to ensure that it provides a welcome and restful retreat from the outside world. It's a great place for people to meet up and relax in a friendly atmosphere.

We serve an array of cask-conditioned ales, a great selection of wines and provide a wide range of freshly prepared food everyday.

The Fishermens Rest was originally the Coach House for The Birkdale Palace Hotel, and during the 1930’s and 40’s welcomed stars like Clarke Gable and Frank Sinatra.

We like to think that our style is friendly, relaxed and welcoming. In 2010 we were voted ‘One of The Famous Grouse Top 100 Famous Pubs in Britain’.

We are proud to be part of the Campaign for Real Ales (CAMRA) and we have been awarded as a Licensee of Excellence 2013 and Best Community Pub 2014.

With barely a moment to recover from Tuesday’s historic (not to mention tense) penalty shoot-out victory over Colombia, it’s time to do it all over again. Saturday’s quarter-final against Sweden kicks-off at 3pm, and unless you have a plane ticket to Russia, the pub is simply the only place…
