It's a great .meeting venue with reasonable priced alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Excellent menu choice and is always hot. Staff are attentive and always pleasant.
Good food, nice selection on the carvery, could have been hotter 1st visit , however piping hot the 2nd visit next day
Spoons at its best. An historic building lovingly restored and maintained to be a thriving social hub in the heart of the community. Cracking selection of beers, great value food from a varied menu, and canny staff. Taking a star off for the telly - nowt like the news to spoil the mood on a night out, and telly-free venues for conversation were what made Spoons the cultural bastion it is today. Get the TV in the bin and this is a 5-star night out in Whitley Bay.
Good can't complain about the food and drink at the price very good. If this pub can keep the price down then how can't others
Tried this weatherspoons in Whitley Bay the beer is by far cheaper than others nearby and decent quality, staff nice and friendly not to much of a wait at the bar,did not try the food but others around me seemed to be enjoying it 👍. Overall, nice enough clean pub with good staff tables constantly cleaned and toilets clean big + would definitely use again.

Karen and Michael welcome you to the The Fat Ox, a comfortable real ale pub appealing to all ages. The pub is steeped in history and dates back to 1922, it was built on the site of a previous drinking house that dated back to the 1800’s.
