Went for first time for a family dinner last week. We ordered fish and chips and streak pies with some millionaires desserts after. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, offering things just as we needed them but before we had to ask. Food was delicious and plentiful and reasonably priced. It was a little chilly in the restaurant but perhaps because we were there at the beginning of evening service. Look forward to returning.
Just attended the 2023 Hogmany Party and here's a honest review. Function room was nice and well decorated. Meal was fine. Staff were really good. Only thing was the DJ. Didn't really read the room. When the dance floor is empty, change the genre, but he didn't. At the bells, he just told everybody to go outside and look over the Forth at the Edinburgh fireworks. He should have kept everybody inside and done a countdown, forget Edinburgh. Stay locally, so didn't book a room. As I say, staff were great and put a great deal of effort in to make a good night for everybody. Might want to change the DJ though. Happy New Year.
Booked for lunch. Been here many times for good, reasonably priced , traditional food. Has changed hands and now tries to combine Indian cuisine with Scottish fare. It doesn't work. Lacks its originality and warm reception.
For room 14 alone, I have to give this place 5 stars. Travelling with someone who recently required mobility assistance, the room ,number 14, was perfect. Grab rails in bathroom, overweigh table at bed, toilet assist rails and height, a walk assist, one touch shower control, no step into shower, wide shower base, wheel chair friendly. Ask for this room if you have a person needing extra mobility care . Whilst old, the kettle was one touch. And a ramp to room close to main office area. Whilst dated in decor, the room had everything needed for disability services. Dining room was spacious, easily accessible, bar bright. Staff totally amazing. Owner extremely approachable and very friendly.
Lovely room at the front, the rooms in the rear are less exciting, though.. Service was excellent, a very warm welcome. Very nice breakfast. Location is great, but the train line means you can't get down to beach very easily. And you'll need a short taxi ride if you arrive by train.
