Pegasus Country Club was first established in 1961. Set on 22 acres of lush Essex countryside, Pegasus Sports and Social Club was originally set up to cater to sporting and social needs of the staff working at the nearby refinery. It was the social spine for the local community.
The Club did not only provides sporting facilities for the workers to have fun and regular exercise, it was also a social meeting point.
The Pegasus has transformed over the years and we are committed to its growth.
With a strong refurbishment and upgrading program our aim is to expand beyond the local boundaries and extend our reach internationally by forming partnerships with other organisations and institutions.

Organised a friend’s surprise 50th birthday party and can’t recommend the venue and staff highly enough. The food was very good and all staff were very helpful during the planning stages and on the night.
Poor Fireworks Display - Sat 4th Nov 2023 Missing the advertised facilities. No kids fun fair as previously advertised. 1 x disappointed child. No sign of the 2 x DJs advertised. They may have been there, within the club house, however entry was only limited to club members only. Something else that was not advertised to the general public. Very misleading. Display lasted just 20 mins from 8pm Gates opened at 4:30pm, with not much else to do on the mean time. Struggled to get the bonfire lit. Couldn’t even light the last display firework. Overall; not the best evening.
Friendly staff great atmosphere massive grounds for the kids to have fun would recommend.
Had our wedding reception here What a amazing night it was, we had a buffet and that was lovely food. Everything we needed help with kellie and Julie was happy to help. Thank you so much
Formally subsedised by Coryton refinery when it was owned by Mobil Oil, it became independent some years ago. It has a members bar and a large function room with a bar and stage. There was a large sports field, fishing lake and tennis courts. A small indoor gym too. **Update**. The new owners. Wyldecrest have spent an awful lot if time and money on refurbishment. It is looking very smart. They are organising regular weekend entertainment there now.
