More than I bargained for. Tragically for me, the staff, in their wisdom, forgot to mention that your vehicle needs to be registered on their computer system. I mean, who wouldn't want to jump through a few extra hoops before enjoying a hearty meal, right? In my humble opinion, they could do with someone jolly well positioned at the door to greet guests, maybe hand out a manual on the dos and don'ts. After all, we can't expect their esteemed customers to actually read everything. I mean, honestly, who has the time for that when you're hungry? So, when I dared to complain directly, their defence was that I should have read the signage. Now, I'm your average Toby punter, so I think it's a damn hefty leap of faith expecting me to be able to read in the first place but what if, like me, you also have small children in tow? Your attention tends to wander, doesn't it? I must say, the management of Toby Carvery Southend and Euro Car Parks do seem to have struck quite a cosy arrangement. A one-hour roast dinner for a family of 2 adults and 2 children somehow ended up costing a whopping £160. Cheers to a dining experience filled with unexpected delights and a rather hefty bill I'm still paying off a month after visiting.
Not great. No Yorkshire puds, no soft drinks on tap and what we did get wasn't the best. The whole place feels like it's about to go under. Some of the food was OK at best, but the stuffing was a lump of stodge, the cauliflower cheese doesn't taste of cheese. To add to it all the chefs just ignore the line of customers as if they are not there. It's needs work top to bottom.
Breakfast with Santa was absolutely great! The Santa was so so lovely! She's a lovely woman & really took the time to speak to the girls & had conversation with us. Couldn't recommend highly enough she was so sweet!
Very good carvery. Food good. Don't always find the atmosphere very relaxing and chilled though. Might depend on what time of the day when visiting. Lunch time is usually busy with families and sometimes this detracts from a more chilled ambience. Although the service is good it's more cafe like in its approach. Good value but I prefer a traditional pub but that's just my personal taste. For families it's good.
Staff very helpful in many ways, it's lovely and light, food very good, will use again when in area.
