We went towards the food counter and although there was no one queueing I was told by the Chef to walk all around the snake like walkway. This was not easy as there wasn’t enough space and my friend tripped but luckily didn’t fall! We selected our meat and vegetables and had some gravy. However it was all cold, this was at 12.30 so not long after service began. It was an awful experience which neither of us would ever repeat. I went to pay and I started to tell the waitress that there is no coke at the refillable machine which was not even requested (she didn’t even know the machine had no coke), before I got any further she walked away from me and then came back and I said again that I was waiting to pay. Very awkward but we just wanted to leave asap.
The Christmas Day environment was amazing and staff faultless. I feel that the vegetarian options could’ve been better. There wasn’t a lot of green veg or veg options in general that wasn’t covered in cheese. The puddings and starters were beautiful.
As a group of 12 we all enjoyed a Xmas lunch, with pleasant surroundings and comfortable seating. It did feel a bit of a production line though, although the food was well cooked and presented, my only observation is the restaurant/toilets are all very well used, and are showing signs of this everywhere, could do with a refresh/lick of paint to bring the place back up to a nice place to be.
visited today first time - meal was good carvery and the beef was lovely and the turkey. all veg was cooked well. waitress was very nice and helpful. only problem no downstairs toilets and i am on crutches at the moment so did not want to go upstairs. i am surprised about this in such a large venue lh
Had a wonderful carvery tonight with my beloved husband. The restaurant was full with families and couples/groups but, waitress was attentive although clearly busy. The food was hot and delicious. The vegetables were replenished quickly, so that nothing was left and dried out. Couldn't have asked for more. We had a wonderful date night and will certainly make this Toby carvery a regular weekly venue!
