About us

The Embankment has been a Peach Pub since 2008 since when it has become one of the premier spots in the heart of Bedford. The clue to our location is in the name! Bedford’s beautifully-landscaped Embankment has wonderful views out over the River Great Ouse, the boathouses and all the hustle and bustle of life on the river.

The Embankment Hotel was built in 1891 and we renovated it to reflect its late-Victorian heyday, but with all the modern comforts & facilities of a great pub. The atmosphere is relaxed & hospitable. There is no stuffy hotel lobby or residents’ lounge, just a team of friendly faces to look after you.

That’s how the bar staff served as G&T at Embankment Hotel last night! In white wine small glass with no garnish of lemon or lime or anything, he had to drink tonic separately as the glass was too small to pour it in! Not to mention waiting for 20min to be served! Shocking! We obviously didn’t stay for another drink!

We booked an 80th birthday party for 34 people. Booked 6 months in advance. Great communication from day one. Nothing was to much trouble. We prebooked all our meals. The day went without a hitch. All staff were pleasant & very helpful. Again on the day nothing was to much trouble for them. Food was great. We all had a great family get together A big thank you to all at The Embankment

Staff are friendly, location is great, building is historic, warm and clean enough. The food is is well sourced and thoughtful, and tastes good. My one gripe is that the portions are rather small ... Miserly might be too strong a word but only slightly too strong.

Hadn’t visited for about 35 years. Great hotel in a good location. Staff were excellent and cooked breakfast was delightful

Wanted to particularly note, that the atmosphere there was quite nice. Only thing we were waiting long to get our meals served, and the waiter was constantly sitting up between us to get our order. Some will not consider this a disadvantage, however I didn’t feel comfortable.
